Hello, Apple!
Eli wrote these words independently tonight. He asked me what the letters for each word were and then wrote them down himself. He needed a model for the "h" and "p." I find this process of learning the written word fascinating and exciting. Dave and I are so looking forward to watching Eli and his brothers become readers, writers, and thinkers so that when the Holy Spirit prompts them toward His word they have the ability to read it and apply the Truth to their lives.
Also, a couple of Eli and Luke-isms I don't want to forget:
pack-pack (backpack)
up-side-over
hipposaurous
dirt (dessert)--that one's just Luke

Saturday Morning Shots
Ice Skating
Okay, sorry, but this one is out of order. One of the favorite activities of this winter has been (was?--is spring actually here?) ice skating. Eli loves his skates; they were his most enthusiastically unwrapped present on Christmas morning. He would wear them all day long if we let him, and now that it is warm enough to use sidewalk chalk on the driveway he insists on having his body traced and then drawing on a pair of his skates. We got them second-hand from the neighbor boys, but the laces are new. We searched for bright orange hockey laces before Christmas, but the best we could come up with were a pair of mostly-white ones and some fabric dye. These photos are from our first "family" ice-skating experience. (Ryan watched from outside the glass.)
